MBDA Capacity Building Certificate Program

Miami Dade College is pleased to partner with the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce, operated by M. Gill & Associates, Inc., in facilitating the 9-Hour MBDA Capacity Building Certificate Program.

To be considered for the program and tuition scholarship, please complete the registration application. Program eligibility is determined by the MBDA Business Center – Operated by M. Gill & Associates, Inc.

About the Program

This nine (9) hour program is designed to assist Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) in the acquisition of skills and knowledge to enhance business success. Business owners will gain experience in developing management capacity, financial capacity and technological capacity in order to achieve new capabilities, higher productivity, workforce improvement, scalability, and business profitability.

The program focuses on three key areas:

  • Operational Efficiencies - The adoption of plans and practices that reduce costs, increase revenues, and enhance team development, as well as understanding aspects of risk management and liability.
  • Financial Management - Develop financial acumen and securing new sources of capital, including both traditional financing, alternative financing, and financial investments.
  • Emerging Technologies - Capitalizing on new technologies and equipment to increase scalability, business exposure and efficiency.

Graduates of the MBDA Capacity Building Program will receive:

  • A Certificate of Completion issued by Miami Dade College
  • Access to Financial Investment Opportunities
  • Access to New Contracting Opportunities
  • Access to New Local and International resources for Business Growth
  • Ongoing, No-Cost Technical Assistance from MBDA Business Center Team
  • Potential Matchmaking Opportunities with Business Growth Professionals and Mentors
  • Emerging Technologies - Capitalizing on new technologies and equipment to increase scalability, business exposure and efficiency.

The MBDA Capacity Building Certificate Program is an initiative of the Miami MBDA Business Center, operated by M. Gill & Associates, and funded by The Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Oeparcmem of Commerce.

Eligibility Overview

The MBDA Capacity Building Certificate Program is provided at no cost to eligible minority-owned business, located primarily in the State of Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since the training will be presented online, eligibility is also extended to minority businesses located in any other state, provided space is available. To participate in the MBDA Capacity Building Certificate Program, businesses must meet the following Eligibility Criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Businesses MUST be at least 51% owned by Ethnic Minorities (African Americans; Asian Americans; Hispanic Americans; Pacific Islanders; Hasidic Jews; Native Americans)
  • Each Participant in this Course must be the Business Owner or a Designated Senior Executive
  • Only one (1) participant per eligible business
  • Business must be registered within the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S Virgin Islands
  • Owner Must agree to participate in the entire 9-hour Capacity Building Course
  • Owner MUST agree to register as an MBDA Business Center Client
  • Owner or Designated Representative MUST sign MBDA Client Engagement Form
  • The Business MUST have already achieved some level of sales
  • MUST agree to share information on contractual and financial opportunities obtained
