Through the Open Door Grant, Miami Dade College is offering financial support for selected non-credit programs that lead to industry certification. Tuition fees, exams, books, and materials will be covered for students who need assistance to enroll in a short-term workforce program.
The Open Door Grant program is designed for Florida residents who are unemployed, underemployed, or furloughed and would like to improve their career opportunities.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Must have completed the Open Door Grant Application. Currently reside in the state of Florida. Considered unemployed, underemployed, or furloughed.

How much is the award and what costs are covered?
Up to $3,000 per eligible program. The cost covered include tuition balance, fees, exams, books, uniforms, and more.
Which programs are eligible for this grant?
Only the workforce programs mentioned above.
Will I be notified once approved?
You will receive an email notification from opendoor@mdc.edu once approved for the grant.
What if I do not get approved?
You will receive an email from opendoor@mdc.edu. Your course enrollment will be withdrawn automatically.
Why is this grant available?
According to the Florida Department of Education, House Bill 1507 created section (s.) 1009.895, Florida Statutes (F.S.), during the 2021 Florida Legislative Session, to establish the Open Door Grant Program (Open Door), which will provide funds to support student completion of short-term, high-demand credit and non-credit career and technical education (CTE) programs at career centers and Florida College System (FCS) institutions.
